During the 2026 summer season, Odessa and the surrounding region plan to open even more official beaches for recreation. This was announced by Oleg Kipper, head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, during a national telethon.

The number of open beaches in Odesa is growing

According to the regional head, the trend toward increasing the number of open beaches has been ongoing for several years in a row. While only 6–8 locations were open in 2023 due to heightened risks, there were already 32 by 2025.

Even more are expected in 2026:

“There will be no fewer than 36,” Oleg Kipper noted.

These are officially authorized sections of the Black Sea coast that have passed inspections and meet safety requirements.

How are beaches prepared for opening?

Before the start of the season, all beaches undergo a mandatory inspection. They can only be opened after approval by special commissions.

Key requirements for beaches:

a survey of the land and water areas has been conducted;

the presence of shelters nearby;

compliance with basic safety standards;

ensuring a minimum level of comfort for vacationers.

Business owners planning to open a beach must submit the appropriate applications. A decision to open a beach is made only after each site has been inspected.

The security situation in Odesa remains complex

Despite preparations for the tourist season, the situation in the region remains tense. According to the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, in April alone, Russian troops launched about 50 attack drones daily over the territory of the Odesa region.

Over 100 instances of damage were recorded as a result of the attacks. In particular, port infrastructure facilities in Greater Odesa and the Danube region, industrial enterprises, medical and educational institutions, as well as residential buildings were affected.

Despite the challenges, regional authorities continue to work to make vacations as safe as possible. The increase in the number of open beaches signals the gradual adaptation of tourism infrastructure to wartime conditions.

At the same time, vacationers are advised to:

use only officially open beaches;

closely monitor air raid alerts;

follow safety rules on the coast.

The 2026 summer season in Odessa promises to be more active, but safety remains a key factor for a comfortable vacation.
