The Pirogovo Museum in spring is one of the best places to relax in Kyiv. Find out when to go, what to see, how much admission costs, and why May is the perfect time to visit
May in Kyiv traditionally marks the start of the outdoor walking season, and this year the city welcomed the warm weather with outdoor activities. As reported by UNIAN, one of the most popular destinations has been the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine — known as the Pirogovo Museum.

What makes the Pirogovo Museum so appealing in the spring?
With the arrival of warm weather, the museum grounds literally come to life. Visitors are greeted by lush spring greenery and the mass blooming of fruit trees. Currently, cherry, sweet cherry, and apricot trees are in full bloom, and apple and pear trees will join them soon.
It is this period that creates a special atmosphere that is difficult to recreate in other seasons. A stroll among traditional Ukrainian houses, gardens, and landscapes allows you to experience a true “cherry orchard by the house”—an image that has long been a symbol of Ukrainian culture.
In addition, the museum has recently updated part of its exhibits. In particular, the mill in the Crimean Tatar zone has been restored, adding even more authenticity and interesting routes for visitors.
In addition to its natural beauty, the museum is gradually improving its infrastructure. For example, halfway along the circular route, a restroom has been renovated, which can also serve as a shelter. This is an important consideration in today’s circumstances, as safety during leisure time remains a priority.
The museum’s large grounds allow for various ways to spend your time: from leisurely strolls to a full exploration of the regional exhibits.

Pirogovo Museum Hours
According to information on the museum’s website, from May through August, it is open daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM for visitor entry. However, you can stay on the grounds longer—until dark.
It is important to note that the indoor exhibits in the huts are also open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but with restrictions: they are closed to visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
How much is admission to the museum?
Admission prices remain affordable:
● full-price ticket — 200 hryvnias;
● discounted ticket (schoolchildren, students, seniors, people with disabilities of Groups II–III) — 100 hryvnias;
● free admission is provided for preschool-aged children, combat veterans, and other eligible groups.
Indeed, May is one of the best times to visit the museum. The combination of warm weather, blooming trees, and updated exhibits creates ideal conditions for enjoying the outdoors. This place is perfect for both a short stroll and a full day out with family or friends.
Especially for those who want to experience the Ukrainian atmosphere without traveling far from the capital.
We remind you! There are natural sites in the Truskavets area that you can visit during a leisurely walk. One of them is Dobrogostiv Lake, surrounded by forest and accessible to tourists of all fitness levels.
