A new tourist route for outdoor enthusiasts will appear in the Lviv region, the Lviv Regional State Administration website reported. On June 10, 2026, “VeloPidkova” will officially launch – a 58-kilometer cycling route that will unite the three most famous castles of the historical route “Golden Horseshoe of Lviv Region”. The new project is designed to popularize cycling tourism, show the historical monuments of the region from a new perspective and attract more travelers to domestic tourism in Ukraine.

What is the Lviv Region “VeloPidkova” cycling route?
“VeloPidkova” is a new tourist cycling route in Lviv region, 58 km long, passing through the Zolochiv, Pidhorytsky and Olesky castles. The official opening will take place on June 10, 2026, and the route runs along the picturesque roads of the historical “Golden Horseshoe”, combining active recreation, cultural heritage and natural landscapes.

Which castles will the new Lviv region cycling route unite?
The new route is created around the three most famous fortification monuments of the region. They form the basis of the popular tourist destination “Golden Horseshoe of Lviv Region”. The route includes:
- Zolochiv Castle;
- Pidhorytsky Castle;
- Olesky Castle.
Each of these monuments has its own unique history and architectural features. Olesky Castle is considered one of the oldest castles in Ukraine, Pidhorytsky is often called the Ukrainian Versailles, and Zolochiv Castle is known for its Chinese Palace and well-preserved defensive structures.

The “VeloPidkova” route combines history, nature and active recreation without difficult mountain climbs.

How will the opening of the “VeloPidkova” route take place?
On the day of the presentation, the organizers will conduct a test ride along part of the route, in particular, cyclists will cover approximately 36 km from Zolochiv to Pidhirtsi. Main details of the ride:
- Date - June 10, 2026;
- Start - 11:00;
- Start location - near the “Zolochiv Castle” museum-reserve (Zolochiv, Ternopilska Street, 1);
- Finish – Pidhorytsky Castle;
- Planned stop in the eco-space of the village of Grabovo.
The organizers recommend that participants have a working bicycle, a protective helmet, a supply of water and basic physical fitness.
