Despite the war, Odesa remains the main sea destination for domestic tourism in Ukraine. With the onset of summer, thousands of tourists traditionally come here, seeking at least a few days of change, to feel the sea breeze and enjoy the special atmosphere of Southern Palmyra.

However, the 2026 resort season has its own characteristics. Today, a vacation by the Black Sea combines not only pleasant emotions, but also the need to constantly take into account security risks associated with the war. Added to this are issues of ecology, the state of sea water and a significant increase in prices for housing and services.

UNIAN told how much a vacation in Odessa will cost this summer, which beaches can officially work and what tourists should pay attention to before booking a trip.

Resort season 2026: Odessa is preparing to receive tourists

Odessa region remains virtually the only region of Ukraine where a full-fledged vacation on the Black Sea coast is possible. That is why every summer the demand for local beaches, hotels and apartments remains consistently high.

Local authorities continue to prepare for the tourist season, expanding the number of available recreation areas. If in the first years of the full-scale war there were only six open beaches, then in 2025 there will be 30, and it is expected that this year there will be no fewer such areas.

Only those beaches that meet a number of safety requirements can receive a permit to operate:

1. Availability of rescue posts (towers) and boats;

2. Working warning systems;

3. Designated swimming areas;

4. Availability of full-fledged shelter.

Tenants and the specialized municipal enterprise of the city council are already carrying out a complex of preparatory works for the season. Additional mobile shelters continue to be installed on the coast, and divers are examining the seabed for dangerous objects.

This year, special attention is paid to inclusivity. Two specially equipped beaches for people with disabilities are to open in Odessa, and barrier-free infrastructure is also being expanded on other parts of the coast.

The mountain rivers of the Carpathians, thermal resorts of Transcarpathia, lakes of Volhynia and the picturesque banks of the Dnieper are quite capable of replacing the traditional beach season. The best places to relax by the water in Ukraine in 2026 in this selection.

How much does a vacation in Odessa cost in 2026?

Those planning a trip to the sea should be prepared for the fact that housing prices have increased significantly compared to previous seasons.

The most expensive areas traditionally remain:

- Arcadia;

- Langeron;

- Velikiy Fontan;

- Sauvignon.

On average, a hotel room by the sea or in the central part of the city costs from 2,500 to 4,500 hryvnias per day. Premium complexes and boutique hotels offer rooms from 4,500 to 9,000 hryvnias, and in some five-star hotels prices can exceed 15–18 thousand hryvnias per night.

For tourists who want to save money, the districts of Luzanivka, Tairovye, Kryzhanivka and Fontanka remain more affordable.

Food and beach service in Odessa 2026: what costs to expect?

Vacationing by the sea in Odessa has long been a budget option.

The average check in restaurants and cafes near the coast often exceeds 1,000 hryvnias per person. This is especially true of popular tourist areas and beach clubs.

In 2026, the following tariffs apply to many private beaches:

- Sunbed - from 250 to 300 hryvnias;

- Premium places - from 800 hryvnias;

- Beach bed - over 1,000 hryvnias;

- Bungalow or tent - from 1,500 hryvnias and above.

Often the price includes a towel, umbrella and use of a separate recreation area.

Motorists should also consider parking costs. On some sections of the coast, the hourly rate is about 60 hryvnias.

Is Odessa safe in 2026?

Despite the active tourist season, Odesa continues to live in conditions of war.

The city is regularly targeted by Russian drones and missiles. A particular danger is the fact that drones often enter from the sea.

Because of this, tourists are recommended to:

1. Always respond to air raid warnings (App Store | Google Play);

2. Know in advance the location of the nearest shelters;

3. Do not stay on the beach during the alert;

4. Follow official messages from local authorities.

A separate threat is drone debris and other dangerous objects that can end up both on the coast and on the seabed after attacks. That is why each beach is opened only after inspection by the relevant services.

Is it safe to swim in the Black Sea?

In addition to military risks, experts also pay attention to the ecological situation. The quality of sea water continues to be affected by the consequences of the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, pollution of the water area after the fall of drones, and the operation of the city stormwater system.

Ecologists emphasize that the situation is not critical, but it is still impossible to call sea water absolutely safe. You should be especially careful after heavy rains and storms. It is during this period that sanitary indicators of water may temporarily deteriorate.

Before swimming, experts recommend focusing on the current results of laboratory tests and reports from specialized services.

Why do tourists choose Odessa?

Despite all the difficulties, Odesa remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ukraine.

For many Ukrainians, the sea has become not only a way to relax, but also an opportunity to restore emotional resources, at least for a short time. The atmosphere of the old city, restaurants, walks along the embankments, and the opportunity to see the sea continue to attract guests from all corners of the country.

However, when planning a trip, it is worth remembering: a vacation on the Black Sea in 2026 requires more responsibility than ever before.
