From Kyiv to Iasi Airport: a new route of Ukrzaliznytsia to Wizz Air's Romanian base
Ukrzaliznytsia, together with the Moldovan railroad, has organized trains from Kyiv to the Wizz Air low-cost base in the Romanian city of Iasi. Here's how much tickets cost and how to use the train
"Ukrzaliznytsia offers passengers convenient connections to the airport in Iasi, Romania, where Wizz Air is based. From the airport you can get to 13 countries.
Which train should I use?
Two trains will bring you to the airport: Kyiv-Chisinau No. 351 and Chisinau-Issa Falcon No. 821. You need to change trains at the Ungheni station. Representatives of Ukrzaliznytsia said that the train will stay at the station for half an hour, so there is enough time to change trains. Upon arrival at the Yassy Sokol station, passengers will be transferred by bus directly to the airport.
Pay attention to the train schedule and arrival time. The train Kyiv-Chisinau departs on odd days at 17:02 and arrives at Ungheni station at 07:53. The train to the airport departs at 09:51 and arrives at the station Iasi Sokola at 11:13.
The schedule in the opposite direction is different. The train departs from Yassy Sokola station at 17:40 and arrives in Ungheni at 18:57. The train to Kyiv departs at 20:21.
Ticket prices
A ticket for the train Kyiv-Chisinau costs:
• 1600 UAH for a reserved seat;
• 2300 for a compartment;
• 4300 in a second-class carriage.
A ticket for the Ungheni-Iasi Falcon train costs 2-3 dollars (41-54 lei).
How to buy tickets?
Ukrzaliznytsia offers to buy tickets on the official website or in the mobile application. Moldovan Railways also sells tickets online - follow the link and choose the desired connection. You can also buy tickets at the station ticket office or from a conductor on the train.
