"Heart of Hutsul Region" – a trip to Vorokhta and Verkhovyna
Please coordinate dates before booking!
Verhovyna is one of the brightest original tourist centers of the Hutsul region, surrounded by Carpathian forests and meadows. Magnificent mountain landscapes are waiting for you here, and you will also see the traditional way of life, culture, get to know the customs, rituals and cuisine of the Hutsuls.
The journey will begin with a morning transfer from Vorokhta to Verkhovyna. The road from the resort takes about an hour and passes through ancient Carpathian forests. The area is surrounded by natural wonders of the mountains - it is crossed by the legendary Black Cheremosh River, and the Bukovetsky Pass is not far away.
Natural springs are a special value of the Carpathian National Nature Park. Everyone who tries it is given the healing power of water filled with the power and majesty of the Carpathian mountains.
Bridges-viaducts on high supports of impressive size, multi-tiered structures stretch across gorges or ravines. In Vorokhta is a 130-meter stone railway bridge built by captured Italians across the mountain river Prut in 1894. Today, one can only imagine what beauty opened from the windows of the carriage for travelers and knowing the fact that the width for the track is quite narrow. And how steam locomotives crawled or perhaps flew over the river. But the beauty of the land was mesmerizing!
Alpine ski track in Vorokhta. In 1957, the first school for skiers was opened and was the main complex for ski jumping, biathlon, ski racing and other winter sports. In the winter, the boats come, mostly beginners and amateurs will learn, due to the short average difficulty of the routes and the prices for the lifts.
Among other objects: two wooden churches: the wooden church named after Peter and Paul, from Hutsul architecture of the 17th century and the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin (1924-1925).
Kryvopilsky Pass. 1013 meters above sea level, one of the highest passes, where a picturesque view of the Black Mountain massif opens.
During the tour, you will have time to take a walk in Verkhovyna, relaxing in nature, walk along the shore of Cheremosh and visit interesting and colorful mini-museums, of which there are more than 30.
Trembitar Museum. The exposition will introduce the origin of the Hutsuls, the life of the Hutsul and its crafts, the life of the Hutsul, traditional Hutsul clothing, musical instruments, rites, and traditions of the Hutsul region.
Observation tower on Shvejkova Gora. To be in Verkhovyna and not see all its beauty? It is not a long walk, literally 15-20 minutes. From there you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Chornohirsky ridge, Verhovyna, Kryvyrosvna and the bends of Chornoy Cheremosh.
Museum of Hutsul magic. Every corner of Ukraine keeps its secrets, mystical stories. This small museum also has its own story about local healers and molfars, as they call magicians here. And here there is a unique instrument that makes you smile - drimba, you always want to try it yourself.
And at the end of our excursion. We invite you to taste a foamy drink and local cheeses.
The Museum of Herbs and Tinctures "Grandfather's Apteka" is a new museum enriched by the famous Hutsul village of Kryvorivnia. After visiting this museum, you will be able to see a large number of healing herbs, fruits, roots and tinctures that our great-grandfathers used to prevent and treat various diseases. You will also hear stories about the preparation of medicinal ointments according to folk methods and their use. The most intriguing is the third museum room, where there are more than 20 types of healing tinctures with mysterious Hutsul names.
