Ukrainians and foreigners who plan to travel to Austria and Hungary by Ukrzaliznytsia trains must print out their train tickets before traveling. This is a reminder from the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia.

Is it necessary to print out the ticket?

As noted by Ukrzaliznytsia, international rail traffic to these countries is carried out in partnership with Hungarian and Austrian railways. They have their own rules, so the ticket must be printed. At the same time, the cost of travel is distributed between the railways of the countries in proportion to the number of kilometers traveled by passengers through the territory of a particular country, so ticket verification is an integral part of mutual control.

Representatives of railway companies in these countries may request a paper version of the ticket for verification and accounting. Electronic tickets stored in a smartphone are not suitable for international travel to these countries.

Important: This applies to both Ukrainian RIC cars on the direct train 749 Kyiv - Vienna and the Hungarian train 146 Chop - Vienna.

The procedure for checking tickets and penalties for violations

During the trip, representatives of railway companies can check travel documents, make appropriate marks on them, and record data for statistics and reporting.

If a passenger does not print out a ticket, unpleasant situations may arise. Railways in neighboring countries may demand payment for transit traffic. This emphasizes the importance of complying with the rules of transportation to avoid additional costs and misunderstandings during the trip.

To prevent such situations, all passengers who buy tickets for these trains through the Ukrzaliznytsia app receive a pop-up reminding them to print the ticket they just purchased.
