Pensions in Ukraine will increase in March: how much will payments increase?
Spring will bring Ukrainian pensioners not only warmer weather, but also increased payments. Starting on 1 March 2026, pensions are planned to be indexed by 12.1%, and a number of social payments for certain categories of citizens will also be increased. What is known about the recalculation, who can expect a supplement, and how minimum pensions will change
On 1 March 2026, Ukraine will see another pension indexation. Payments are planned to be increased by 12.1%, which will partially compensate for price increases and support the purchasing power of pensioners.
This was announced by the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Denys Ulyutin, on Ukrainian radio. According to him, the relevant regulatory document is in the final stages of preparation and will soon be submitted to the government for consideration.
How much will pensions increase?
According to preliminary calculations, the indexation coefficient will be 12.1%. This figure exceeds last year's inflation rate by approximately 4%, which means a real increase in payments, not just compensation for the rise in prices of goods and services.
The recalculation will be carried out automatically after the decision is approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. Pensioners do not need to contact the Pension Fund or submit additional applications.
The indexation will affect most categories of pension recipients, including:
1. old-age pensioners;
2. people with disabilities;
3. recipients of pensions due to the loss of a breadwinner;
4. military pensioners (taking into account certain recalculation mechanisms).
What other payments will increase
In addition to indexation, the government has announced an increase in certain social payments. The following increases have already been agreed:
- minimum pensions;
- targeted assistance to families of deceased and missing defenders of Ukraine.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said that the updated payment amounts will also take effect on 1 March 2026.

Teacher salary increases
Social changes will also affect the education sector. Since January 2026, school teachers' salaries have already increased by 30%. An additional 20% increase for all categories of teachers is planned from 1 September 2026.
In addition, monthly allowances will continue to apply:
▪️ 2,000 hryvnia — for all teachers;
▪️ 4,000 hryvnia — for teachers in frontline communities.
The March indexation will be one of the largest in recent years. The 12.1% increase will raise the average amount of payments and partially offset the impact of inflation.
Reminder! The government is launching a new programme of interest-free loans for citizens who have changed their place of residence due to extraordinary circumstances. The maximum amount of assistance can reach about 430,000 hryvnia, and the budget will compensate banks for interest. Find out who is eligible for a loan and how to get one.
