In Lviv, a heightened security regime will be in effect these days. Law enforcement agencies will conduct special security measures throughout the city from March 5 to 9. The initiator of the operation is the Security Service of Ukraine, and officers of the National Police of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine will also be involved in the work.

This was reported by the SBU Department in the Lviv region. Law enforcement officers emphasize: the purpose of such actions is to increase the level of security of city residents and prevent possible threats in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Why are additional security measures being introduced in Lviv?

According to the SBU, the main task of the operation is to identify, prevent and neutralize possible threats of intelligence and subversive activities that may be directed against Ukraine.

The special service explains that such inspections are carried out regularly during martial law and are aimed at strengthening security in the regions. Law enforcement officers pay special attention to infrastructure facilities, public places and areas of large crowds.

Security measures will cover the entire territory of the city of Lviv and will last several days.

What restrictions may be introduced in Lviv as part of the increased security measures?

During the operation, residents and guests of Lviv may encounter temporary restrictions, including:

- Restrictions on passage or travel along certain streets;

- Checking citizens' documents;

- Inspection of cars;

- Additional checks of persons in case of suspicion;

- Inspection of public areas and premises to detect prohibited items.

Such actions will be carried out taking into account the martial law regime and in accordance with current legislation.

What should citizens and guests of the city be prepared for?

The Security Service of Ukraine calls on city residents to treat possible inconveniences with understanding and to facilitate the work of law enforcement officers, in particular:

- Always have identification documents with you;

- Follow the legal requirements of law enforcement officers;

- Obey the curfew;

- Remain calm during inspections.

Law enforcement officers emphasize that such measures are aimed solely at protecting the population and increasing the level of security in the region.

Security tightened after recent terrorist attack

Security measures are being tightened against the backdrop of a recent terrorist attack in Lviv. On the night of February 22, an explosion occurred in the city, as a result of which 23-year-old police officer Viktoriya Shpylka died.

Later it became known that on March 4, a 31-year-old serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine, Yosif Pavlynsky, also died of his injuries in the hospital.

According to the investigation, a 33-year-old woman, who has already been detained by law enforcement officers, may have been involved in organizing the explosion. The investigation believes that she could have acted on the instructions of Russian special services.

That is why law enforcement agencies are strengthening control in the city to prevent possible new threats and sabotage.
