Tow truck rates in Kyiv are set to skyrocket: how much will you have to pay?

Starting in mid-spring, drivers in the capital are in for an unpleasant surprise: private towing companies are significantly raising the cost of their services. This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA).

How much will towing cost?

Starting April 15, 2026, the minimum rate charged by private operators for towing a vehicle in Kyiv will be 1,680 hryvnias.

Compared to last year, rates have risen quite significantly: in 2025, the minimum cost of this service started at 1,200 hryvnias. It is worth noting that the new rate for private operators (1,680 UAH) is now fully aligned with the National Police’s rate for transporting vehicles weighing up to two tons.

What is the reason for the sharp price hike?

The main factor behind the price increase was the rise in fuel costs. According to Deputy Head of the City Administration Kostyantyn Usov, it was this factor that forced private companies to revise their prices.

“The rate for such services is not state-regulated, so it is set directly by the companies providing the transportation,” Usov emphasized, explaining the pricing mechanism in this sector.

Kyiv remains cheaper than other major cities

Despite the significant price increase, the capital’s rates for tow truck services remain among the most affordable among Ukraine’s major cities. For comparison, in other regional centers, drivers have to pay significantly more:

▪️ Dnipro: from 2,110 to 2,410 UAH;

▪️ Lviv: from 1,862 to 2,638 UAH;

▪️ Kyiv: from 1,680 UAH (new rate effective April 15, 2026).

Drivers in the capital should be especially careful when parking, as violations will now cost significantly more, considering not only the fine itself but also the new rates for tow truck services.

Reminder! In Kyiv, the speed limit on roads will not be raised to 80 km/h in 2026. Find out why this decision was made, what restrictions are in place, and what this means for drivers.
