Top 10 Imported Used Cars in Ukraine: Which Models Did Drivers Choose in March?
The used car market in Ukraine is changing: drivers are opting for new engine types and models. Find out which imported cars were the most popular in March 2026 and what factors influence Ukrainians’ choices
The Ukrainian market for imported used cars continues to evolve rapidly. In 2026, drivers are increasingly opting for practical and affordable models, while also reevaluating their preferences regarding engine types. This is evidenced by data from Ukravtoprom.
Which types of cars are the most popular in 2026?
Over the past year, the market structure has changed significantly. Gasoline-powered cars account for the largest share of used cars imported from abroad—58%. For comparison, in March 2025, their share was only 45%.
The breakdown is as follows:
● diesel cars — 21% (compared to 23% last year);
● electric vehicles — 9% (a significant drop from 23%);
● hybrids — 8% (an increase from 5%);
● vehicles with LPG systems — 4% (no change).
Average age of imported cars
Another important characteristic is the age of the cars. On average, Ukrainians choose cars that are about 10 years old. This is a compromise between price and technical condition: such cars are already significantly cheaper than new ones, yet they remain reliable enough for daily use.

How many cars were imported into Ukraine in March?
In March, Ukrainians registered 18,300 used passenger cars imported from abroad. This is 7% less than during the same period last year.
Despite a slight drop in volumes, the imported car segment remains one of the key segments in the Ukrainian market, as it allows consumers to purchase a car at a more affordable price than a new one.
Top 10 Most Popular Models
The Volkswagen Golf traditionally remains the leader among imported cars—849 such vehicles were registered in March. The top ten most popular models also included:
● Volkswagen Tiguan — 787 units;
● Audi Q5 — 627 units;
● Nissan Rogue — 624 units;
● Skoda Octavia — 594 units;
● Renault Megane — 589 units;
● Ford Escape — 415 units;
● Volkswagen Passat — 385 units;
● Mazda CX-5 — 361 units;
● Nissan Qashqai — 352 units.
In addition to choosing a model, it’s important to remember about paperwork and insurance. After importing a car and registering it in Ukraine, obtaining auto liability insurance is mandatory—this is a basic requirement for all drivers. To avoid wasting time, it’s convenient to apply for a policy online via Visit Ukraine—this allows you to quickly obtain the necessary document and start using the car immediately without any risks.
We remind you! Ukrainians can expect lower fuel prices: experts and the government are noting a drop in oil prices. Naftogaz of Ukraine is already responding to the changes. Read more about how this will affect prices at gas stations.
