Kyiv's Beaches in the Summer of 2026: Which 15 Beaches Are Open, and Can You Visit Them?
This summer in Kyiv, municipal workers are regularly maintaining 15 municipal beaches, but there are no plans to officially declare the season open due to martial law. Find out which beaches are being prepared for summer, what the preparations entail, and what restrictions are in place in 2026
This summer in Kyiv, the municipal enterprise “Pleso” is regularly maintaining 15 municipal beaches. This was reported by the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City Council in response to a request from UNIAN.
The list of beaches under maintenance includes: Children’s, Zolotyi, Venice, Youth, Central, Galerna, Troieshchyna, Rainbow, Telbin, Chortoryi, Verbnyi, Pushcha-Vodytsia, Obolonskyi Island, Peredmistna-Slobidka, and Veselka.

How are Kyiv’s beaches being prepared for the summer season?
The City Council provided a detailed account of what the beach preparations entail. The work covers several areas.
Technical infrastructure: reactivating water supply networks followed by disinfection and chlorination, installing drinking fountains and shower stations, bringing landscaping elements up to proper technical and aesthetic standards, and ensuring the operation of stationary public restrooms and modular container-type toilets.
In terms of sanitation: twice a week throughout the summer, the municipal enterprise “Pleso” monitors the condition of surface waters for compliance with sanitary and hygiene standards. At the same time, specialists test samples from both open water bodies and drinking water. Scheduled inspections of the water bodies’ bottoms are also conducted — divers clear the bottom of hazardous objects: glass, stones, and other debris that may have fallen into the water.
From a safety and organizational standpoint, rescue posts, medical stations, and rescue stations are being prepared, and the availability of necessary equipment for their proper operation during the summer is being checked.
Separately, the removal and disposal of solid household and bulky waste is being carried out — the company signed a corresponding contract with a contractor in early 2026. In response to requests, services for the capture of stray animals and the maintenance of beach areas are also being provided.

The official season will not be announced, but you can visit the beach
Although beach preparations are proceeding in full swing, the city council emphasized: due to martial law and to prevent large gatherings of people, the official summer season in Kyiv in 2026 will not be announced. The recommendation not to visit beaches also remains in effect in the capital.
At the same time — and this is important — no legal bans on visiting public water bodies in the capital have been introduced. In other words, formally speaking, it is not prohibited to go to the beach, but the authorities urge caution and responsibility.
If you enjoy relaxing on the capital’s beaches but want to add some variety to your summer, check out pre-planned tours of Ukraine on the Visit Ukraine platform — we have options for different preferences and budgets, including those seeking nature, cultural itineraries, or simply a change of scenery.
