Mobilization exercises in Belarus 2026
According to the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, the exercises began on June 20 in the Oshmyany district. All conscripts who have received a call-up must arrive at the collection points to update their personal data and undergo registration procedures. As part of the exercises, military commissariats will check the relevance of registration documents, clarify the personal data of reservists, and additionally assess the readiness of the mobilization resource. In general, it is predicted that the campaign will cover about two thousand people and will be held in stages until the beginning of July.
However, it is important that this is not only a formal data reconciliation, because some of the conscripted reservists may be sent to military training camps to undergo practical training. The program of which:

Why is the news about mobilization exercises in Belarus important for Ukraine?
Formally, such events in Belarus are not something new, because such checks are carried out regularly. However, in the current geopolitical conditions, even planned exercises are viewed through the prism of the war in Ukraine. Especially considering the geography of the exercises - the Grodno region, which borders immediately with Poland and Lithuania, and Belarus itself remains a strategic ally of Russia. That is why any movement of troops or activation of the reserve is assessed as a potential factor of escalation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that the Kremlin is considering several scenarios for the expansion of the war, including the possible more active involvement of Belarus. In addition, the Belarusian opposition has repeatedly reported on processes within the country that may indicate increased military coordination between Minsk and Moscow.
What steps will Russia take after a large-scale attack on Moscow and why this is beneficial to Ukraine, we tell you at the link.
Is there a risk of a new offensive from the north?
As of 2026, the Ukrainian military has not recorded any signs of the formation of a strike group sufficient for a ground invasion from the territory of Belarus. However, Ukraine continues to strengthen the defense of the northern border. In particular, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, previously instructed to strengthen defensive positions in the northern direction:
- Strengthen border control;
- Strengthen engineering structures;
- Install anti-drone systems;
- Increase the readiness of rapid response forces.
In particular, in the border communities of the Volyn region, the installation of anti-drone nets on certain sections of roads to protect against drone attacks continues.

Belarus is an important partner of Russia in the war
Despite the absence of an immediate threat of an offensive, Belarus continues to play an important role in the security situation around Ukraine. Experts note that the main threat now lies not so much in a direct invasion, but in the use of Belarusian territory for logistics, intelligence and support of Russian military operations.
In particular, in recent days, the Ukrainian leadership has actively raised the issue of the work of repeaters, which were used to adjust strikes on the territory of Ukraine. And yesterday, Volodymyr Zelensky announced the termination of their work. This indicates that the northern direction remains under constant control of the Ukrainian defense forces, and any activity of Belarus is closely monitored.
In general, mobilization exercises in Belarus should be considered simply as a demonstration of military readiness and a tool of political pressure, rather than a sign of immediate preparation for a new offensive. At the same time, the situation remains dynamic, and therefore requires constant monitoring.
In addition, in an unstable security situation, war risk insurance becomes not just an additional option, but an important element of protection for foreign citizens in Ukraine. The policy covers emergency medical care, outpatient treatment, hospitalization and repatriation. Additionally, the insurance provides financial compensation in the event of an accident caused by military operations, passive military risks or terrorist acts.
