Which German states are accepting Ukrainians in July 2024: current addresses of camps
Ukrainian citizens face different reception and distribution conditions in the federal states of Germany. Currently, the reception situation remains difficult due to the high level of migration. Each federal state has its own reception centers where refugees can receive temporary asylum. Find out the addresses of refugee camps that will continue to accept refugees in July 2024
Refugees from Ukraine who continue to arrive in Germany are usually accommodated in temporary reception centers. After that, they are further distributed among the federal states.
However, the housing situation in the country is currently quite difficult.
We will tell you which states of Germany are accepting Ukrainians in July 2024 in the article.
Peculiarities of Ukrainian refugees' accommodation in Germany
Ukrainians should be prepared for a long stay in refugee shelters, such as dormitories, hangars, or even gyms. This is due to the difficult housing situation in the country.
Due to the high level of migration, some areas of Germany have repeatedly warned of limited capacity to accept new refugees.
Please note! Refugees cannot independently choose a federal state for further residence. Even if you arrive at a camp in a particular state, you may be redirected to another state. To move to your preferred federal state, you need to obtain a special permit. This permit is only granted for valid reasons, such as having a job, spouse or minor children.
Recommendations for choosing reception centers
It is better to choose a camp with the most convenient transportation, as the living conditions are almost the same in all reception centers for refugees. After registration, it is almost impossible to change the place of reception, the information about registration is one-time - you will not be accepted elsewhere.
Current reception centers for refugees in July 2024
Baden-Württemberg (Baden-Württemberg)
From the reception centers of Baden-Württemberg, the distribution goes to other federal states, in particular to Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse.
• Karlsruhe (Durlacher Allee 100, 76137 Karlsruhe): open, but often distributes to other federal states. You can arrive by your own car, but the vehicle must be parked outside the reception center. Refugees with animals larger than a cat are not accepted.
• Meßstetten (Geißbühlstraße 51, 72469 Meßstetten): Located in an inaccessible location, so it is better to get there by car. Refugees with pets are not accepted.
• Freiburg (Basler Landstraße 16, 79111 Freiburg): Does not accept refugees in need of special medical care. Refugees with pets can live in this camp, but dogs must be on a leash at all times.
Bavaria (Bayern)
• Munich (Dachauer Str. 122a, 80637 München): This reception center is used for distribution across Bavaria. There may be problems for those who come with pets. Animals are required to be given somewhere else, further distribution with animals is impossible, and shelters are overcrowded.
Berlin
• Tegel (old airport): The territory of the reception center is closed. You can get inside only by a special bus.
- If you are arriving by car: leave your car in the parking lot and take the bus in the P3 parking lot in front of building 109.
- If you are coming by public transport, the bus goes from Berlin-Jungfernheide station, the bus stop is on Olberstraße/Gallesteig.
(Trains from Eastern Europe arrive at a different station, Berlin-Gesundbrunnen, from which you need to take a city train to Berlin-Jungfernheide station. All routes are available on Google Maps).

If you are arriving late and without a car, contact the Bahnhofsmission in Frankfurt, they can accommodate you for one night. To get there, you first need to take the train from Frankfurt to Gießen Bf. Then take bus 1 or 17 to the Sophie-Scholl-Schule stop.
North Rhine-Westphalia (Nordrhein-Westfalen)

Thuringia (Thüringen)

Peculiarities of employment of Ukrainians in Germany
Ukrainian immigrants with temporary protection in Germany can officially work without any difficulties. Restrictions apply only to those who have arrived on the basis of a biometric passport or visa and have been granted refugee status.
To obtain a work permit, you need to apply to the Foreigners' Registration Office. When a residence permit is issued, a record is made in the document about the possibility of engaging in paid work, even if a specific job is not yet available. No other permits are required.
German labor market experts believe that Ukrainian refugees have good chances of finding employment in the medium term, according to a survey by the Institute for Research on the Labor Market and Professions (IAB).
