The Administration of the Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports that in 2023 (between January 1, 2023 and August 1, 2023), more than 1.3 million foreigners visited the country, including 3,258 Egyptian citizens. Many travelers also came to Ukraine in 2022.

The land borders of Ukraine work as usual, entry is allowed for both Ukrainians and foreigners. However, closed air space significantly complicates travel.

Travel route from Egypt to Ukraine


Tourists usually prefer to travel by plane, because it is fast and convenient. However, due to the closed airspace in Ukraine, it is impossible to get here by air transport. That is why most tourists choose to fly to one of the European airports located near the Ukrainian border, and then continue their journey to Ukraine by ground transport.

Ukraine borders the following European countries - Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova. How to get here from Egypt?


Flight to the Ukrainian border


● Egypt - Poland

Egypt and Poland are connected by the following direct flights:

- Sharm el-Sheikh - Warsaw, flights twice a week, on Saturday and Wednesday, departures at 10:00 and 14:40, travel time 4 hours 40 minutes, ticket price from 200 euros.

- Cairo - Warsaw, departures every day at 12:15. The price of the ticket is from 300 euros. The duration of the flight is 4 hours and 10 minutes.

- Hurghada - Katowice, ticket price from 500 euros, departure time - 20:20, journey duration - 4 hours and 10 minutes.

- Hurghada – Rzeszów (Ryaszów), ticket price from 300 euros, departure time – 19:45, arrival in Rzeszów at 23:05.


● Egypt - Moldova

You can get from Egypt to Chisinau on a direct Hurghada - Chisinau flight. The travel time is 3 hours and 10 minutes. Estimated departure time - 08:55. Ticket price from 90 euros.


● Egypt - Slovakia

The Hurghada - Bratislava flight departs every Friday at 14:15 and arrives in Slovakia at 17:30. Ticket price from 90 euros.


● Egypt – Hungary

Budapest can be reached by direct flight from many cities in Egypt: Hurghada, Giza, Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh.

Departure from Cairo three times a week (Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) at 12:00, travel time 3 hours 25 minutes, ticket price from 150 euros.


● Egypt – Romania

The two countries have direct air connections, with flights departing from Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh.

The Cairo-Bucharest flight departs four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) at 04:30, travel time 2 hours 50 minutes, ticket price from 150 euros.


Tourists planning a trip to central and southern Ukrainian regions should fly to Moldova or Romania. It is easiest to get to the western regions of Ukraine from Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.

After arriving in one of the European cities, the journey to Ukraine can be continued by train or bus.


Railway connection Europe - Ukraine


Most of the tourists prefer the railway because of its speed and comfort. Ukraine is connected to European cities by the following trains:

● Poland - from Warsaw you can reach Kyiv, from Przemyśl - to Kyiv, Odesa and Zaporizhzhia, from Chelm - to Kyiv and Kharkiv.

● Hungary - there is a direct train from Budapest to Kyiv.

● Austria - a direct train goes from Vienna to Kyiv.

● Moldova - a direct train goes from Chisinau to Kyiv.

● Slovakia - from Kosice you can reach Chopa and Mukachevo.

By bus from Europe to Ukraine


A fairly convenient and economical way to get to Ukraine is by bus. There are no direct flights from Egypt, but you can find a convenient route from European countries. The road to Lviv will take from 4 hours from Poland to 25 hours from the cities of France or Germany.

Carriers offer comfortable passenger buses for the trip. The salon is equipped with soft seats, a toilet and an automatic climate control system, a large luggage compartment, Wi-Fi, which allows you to travel comfortably.


From Egypt to Ukraine by own car


The distance from Cairo to Kyiv is almost 3,800 km. The travel time is 46 hours and 30 minutes. The travel route will pass through the following countries: Israel, Lebanon (or Jordan, Syria), Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova.

Do citizens of Egypt need a visa to Ukraine?


To enter Ukraine, citizens of Egypt need to issue a short-term visa (type C). This visa is issued to foreigners whose stay does not exceed 90 days within 180 days. It can be issued for single, double or multiple entry. Visa type C is most often issued for the purpose of tourism, for business trips or private visits.

To apply for a visa, it is necessary to apply to a foreign diplomatic institution of Ukraine with a complete package of documents no earlier than 3 months before the start of the planned trip.

If the planned period of stay in Ukraine exceeds 90 days or you plan to work, get an education in Ukraine, etc., then for such a trip you need to have a type D visa. After arriving in Ukraine on the basis of a long-term visa, a foreigner must obtain a residence permit.
