Study in Ukraine
Study: what you should know before returning to Ukraine
Returning children to a Ukrainian school
Even if you have an incomplete package of documents, your child has the right to enroll in a Ukrainian school. The school may need
- an extract from a foreign educational institution (subjects, grades);
- or passing a review test to determine the level of knowledge.
Most schools understand that a child has been abroad for a long time, so they often offer psychological support, adaptation periods, or help in catching up on subjects.
Important: even in the absence of documents, the school has no right to refuse to enroll the child.
Recognition of foreign education and admission to higher education institutions
- If a child or an adult has studied abroad, their diploma, certificate, or diploma can be recognized in Ukraine. To do this, an application is submitted to the Information and Image Center of the Ministry of Education and Science or through the NARIC platform.
- Admission to universities in Ukraine
Ukrainians who have returned from abroad can apply to higher education institutions on a general basis or through:
- National Multisubject Test (NMT) - it can be taken abroad or in Ukraine;
- special preferential conditions for children of IDPs, combatants and other categories.

Distance and international education
Even if you are in Ukraine, you can:
- continue your distance learning at a foreign institution;
- participate in exchange programs, scholarships, international online courses (e.g., Erasmus+, UWC, Coursera, EdX, etc.).
Gathering documents before returning
Before returning, be sure to collect
- certificates, report cards, academic transcripts;
- documents from kindergarten, school, university;
- certificates of medical examination or vaccinations (for preschoolers and primary school children).
This will greatly simplify adaptation and enrollment in an educational institution in Ukraine.
