At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia, a large number of foreign citizens expressed a desire to join the Ukrainian resistance and defend Ukraine and international security together with the Ukrainian Armed Forces. 

The participation of foreigners in the war against russia is regulated by the International Legion at the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, a separate special unit of the International Legion of Defense of Ukraine.

The opportunity to apply is now available even if you do not speak English or Ukrainian but know Spanish. This also applies to those without military experience, as the team has Spanish-speaking trainers.

Joining the International Legion of Ukraine: requirements for candidates

To become a part of the International Legion, a candidate must meet some important requirements:

• Age restrictions: candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 60.

• No criminal record: Candidates must not have a criminal record or history of criminal prosecution.

• Medical fitness: All candidates must pass a medical examination and be free of chronic illnesses.

• Physical fitness: candidates must be physically capable of performing infantry tasks.

• Ability to enter Ukraine legally: The Legion and the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not provide assistance with visas and travel arrangements. However, Visit Ukraine specialists will help you with this issue.

• Military experience: This is an advantage, but not required. Military experience can include service in law enforcement, paramilitary organizations, and other relevant fields.

• Combat experience: is an advantage, but not required. Combat experience may include participation in paramilitary forces or militias.

Steps to apply for membership in the International Legion of Ukraine

To apply for membership in the International Legion, you should follow this algorithm:

1. Download and fill out the appropriate form.

2. Scan your passport.

3. Scan documents confirming military or relevant experience (if any).

4. Send the completed application form and scanned copies of the documents to [email protected].
